Ferry Services at Palermo

Palermo's port offers a variety of onward travel options, namely ferry trips to Genoa, Naples, Salerno, Livorno, Civitavecchia and Tunis.

Grimaldi Lines provides several crossings a week to Civitavechhia, Salerno, Tunis and Livorno from a passenger terminal on Molo Piave. Travelers need to enter the port via the main gate that faces Via Emerico Amari. Check-in for the line takes place inside the Grimaldi box on Molo Piave. It takes 19 hours to reach Livorno from Palermo. Grimaldi Lines leave Palermo on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 11.30 pm and 0.30 am. They return from Livorno on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11.30 pm and 0.15 am. Two people sharing an outside superior cabin and travelling on the ferry with a car not larger than 4.0 meters long and 1.90 meters high can expect to pay from 380.00 euros for the return trip.

Grimaldi Line ferries leave Palermo for Salerno twice a week at 10.30 am and 8.00 pm, returning from Salerno at 0.30 am and 12.30 pm. The outward journey takes about 9 and a half hours, the return journey up to 10 and a half hours. Two people travelling with a small car and taking not a cabin, but just a Pullman seat will pay from ca. 185.00 euros.

Travelling to Tunis takes around 10 to 12 and a half hours. Grimaldi ferries leave Palermo twice a week at 12.30 pm and 2.00 pm, and return from Tunis twice a week at 6.30 pm and 3.00 am. GNV, Grandi Navi Velochi ferries, go from Palermo to the ports of Genoa, Civitavecchia, Naples and Tunis.

The travel time to Tunis is 9 hours and 30 minutes one way. Depending on the time of travel, a return journey for two people travelling with a small car and taking a cabin with sea views is around 150.00 euros.

GNV ferries to Genoa take 19 hours and 30 minutes for the voyage. A cabin crossing for two, travelling with a small car, costs around 260.00 euros for the return trip to Genoa. Ferries leave daily at 11.00 pm.

Travelling to Naples with GNV takes 11 hours one way, and the crossing in a cabin with sea views costs from 208.00 euros for two people with a small car. Ferries leave daily for Naples.

Pets are welcome on board.

The GNV crossing time to Civitavecchia is between 11 hours and 13 hours plus 45 minutes one way; the cost is ca 220.00 euros for two people travelling with a small car and staying in a cabin with sea views. Ferries leave every day of the week, except on Mondays.

Passengers with vehicles must report for check-in at least two hours before departure. Foot passengers can check-in one hour before departure. From Mondays to Saturdays check-in is accessible from 5.00 pm onward, and on Sundays from 3.30 pm onward.

Port authority regulations don't permit foot passengers on the Puntone Dock, so any foot passengers embarking for the GNV ships to Naples that are docked at the Quattro Venti Dock should use the free shuttle service that stops outside the GNV ticket office.
