San Vito Lo Capo is located some 86 km distance from Palermo, about an hour and 13 minute drive via the A29, E90 and SS189 routes. This small seaside village in the northwest of the island boasts a wonderful beach that lines a sheltered bay. The beach enjoys the dramatic backdrop of Mount Monaco, a 532 meter peak accessible on foot via hiking trails from both the eastern and western side of the mountain. Combining this to a circular route takes about half a day. The area borders the Riserva Naturale dello Zingaro, Sicily's first and most popular natural reserve. There are numerous coves with lovely sandy beaches that can be reached via hiking trails along this coast.

San Vito Lo Capo village center is dominated by the 15th century Santuario di San Vito building, a square-built structure reminiscent of a fortress, rather than a religious sanctuary. It takes just a few minutes to reach the Zingaro nature reserve, which opened in 1981, offering endemic plants and animals a refuge that spans ca. 7 kilometers of coastline. The nature reserve is home to rare bird species like Bonelli's Eagle and peregrine falcons, and shelters carob and cork trees and dwarf palms. The walks in this nature reserve are signposted and never fail to surprise and delight with the views that open up. The main entrance of Riserva Naturale dello Zingaro is located at Via Salvo D'Acquisto 1 in Castellammare del Golfo (www.riservazingaro.it), but Zingaro is also accessible from San Vito Lo Capo.
